JNRSP Policies and Publishing Guidelines
Creative Commons Licensing and Copyright
JNRSP is an open-access journal, allowing readers free access to all published content. Articles in JNRSP are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY 4.0), which grants users broad rights to search, download, share, distribute, print, and link to the articles’ full texts, as well as reproduce them in any medium, provided the author is credited appropriately. Authors retain the copyright to their work, while JNRSP takes responsibility for ensuring proper citation practices. This license encourages the unrestricted sharing and reproduction of content while respecting authorship and promoting academic transparency. For more on CC BY 4.0, visit the Creative Commons license page.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
As an open-access journal, JNRSP charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 150,000 ID, payable once an article is accepted for publication. There are no other fees—no submission, page, or color charges. Payment can be made either through manual receipt or electronic transfer. Importantly, this fee is only applicable post-acceptance, ensuring it has no influence on the editorial decision-making process. Currently, JNRSP does not offer fee waivers.
Plagiarism and Ethics Policy
JNRSP upholds strict ethical standards and screens all submissions using Turnitin’s plagiarism-detection software. Plagiarism and unethical practices such as duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, and misattribution of contributions are prohibited. Submitting identical content to multiple journals or knowingly including false information also violates our ethical guidelines. JNRSP allows up to 20% text similarity, which includes AI-generated content, with an AI content threshold set at 5%. Authors are responsible for ensuring their manuscript adheres to these similarity limits throughout the publication process.
Each submission undergoes an initial similarity report, showing the percentage overlap with other published works. A high similarity score does not necessarily indicate plagiarism; expert editors review these reports to determine if there’s a legitimate overlap or if there are concerns. Currently, figures and equations are not checked for similarity.
Peer Review Policy
JNRSP follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process, involving three external reviewers for each manuscript to maintain objectivity. Authors are not asked to suggest or exclude potential reviewers, ensuring a fully independent assessment. Although there is no mandated format for reviewer reports, a suggested structure includes:
- Summary of the submission
- Major issues or concerns
- Minor issues
If a reviewer feels they cannot assess a manuscript thoroughly, it is encouraged that they decline the review invitation. Reviews should provide a comprehensive critique rather than brief feedback. Any manuscripts under review are strictly confidential, and reviewers are prohibited from sharing or discussing the content outside the review process. When recommending rejection, reviewers are encouraged to outline the manuscript’s major shortcomings and suggest relevant literature on the topic.
Digital Archiving and Preservation
JNRSP ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content through the CLOCKSS archive system, which provides decentralized, distributed storage to guarantee permanent access to the original content. This digital archiving strategy safeguards the integrity and availability of JNRSP articles over time, ensuring that all published research remains accessible. CLOCKSS supports JNRSP's commitment to preserving scholarly work for future generations.
Backup
JNRSP implements an additional backup policy to protect against data loss.
Onsite Backup: The onsite full server backups provide disaster recovery options to help protect against data loss or corruption. Onsite backups are run daily by the host and retained for 7 days by default. The backup is performed on the main hosting server hetzner, and on the substitute hosting server ovh.
Remote Backup: JNRSP ensures 7-day backups of the OJS database and daily backups of the cPanel for disaster recovery.
Advertising Policy
The Journal of Narcotics Research and Sustainable Practices (JNRSP) does not accept or rely on advertisements or sponsored content of any kind. This approach allows us to maintain an unbiased, research-focused publication. Any mention of products or services is solely informational and not promotional.
Appeals and Complaints Process
JNRSP values transparency and responsiveness in its editorial process. If authors or readers have concerns—such as long processing times, ethical issues, or editorial decisions—they can file a detailed appeal or complaint. Initially, appeals are reviewed by the journal editor(s) to assess their validity. If deemed valid, the editorial board or external reviewers may conduct further review, after which a new decision will be made. We welcome comprehensive, well-supported appeals and handle all complaints with respect to the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
For issues that may require institutional investigation, JNRSP will escalate the matter accordingly. When necessary, we will update the published record through a post-publication notice, such as a correction or retraction, linked to the original article to maintain transparency and publication integrity. Article removal occurs only in rare cases where it serves the public interest.
To submit a complaint or appeal, contact the journal’s editor(s) with a clear explanation of your concern. If the issue involves the editors themselves, you may alternatively reach out directly to the publisher by emailing the editorial office at journals@hiuc.edu.iq.
Privacy Policy
The personal information (names and email addresses) collected on our website is used strictly for JNRSP’s stated purposes. We are committed to safeguarding privacy and do not share information with third parties.
Funding and Financial Policy
JNRSP is an open-access journal funded through author publication fees, which cover the administrative, membership, and printing expenses. This self-sustaining model ensures that all research remains freely accessible to readers worldwide. JNRSP publishes both online and in print to reach a broad audience.
Responding to Reviewer Feedback
Authors are asked to address reviewer comments within two weeks. A detailed, point-by-point response should be prepared, indicating how each comment was addressed, along with the specific location of corrections or additions within the revised manuscript. All modifications in the manuscript should be highlighted in bright yellow.
To submit a revised manuscript, please include:
- The revised document with all changes highlighted.
- A response letter addressing each reviewer’s comment.
For guidance on formatting responses, authors may refer to our Author Response Form.
